Summer Workshop at Tsepelovo

In collaboration with Photometria International Photography Festival, Asfa Photo Courses makes its home for a week at the ASFA artistic station of Tspelovo in the Zagori region of Ioannina for the summer workshop “Postcards from home”.
Participants of “Postcards from home” will explore the concept of home from their own perspective, selecting from a number of options: return to the family home or the country, immigration, familiar homes and uncanny, nature as a home, etc.
The concept of home lends itself to a wide range of photographic approaches.
“Postcards from home” is an attempt to generate an artistic community that will use the concept of home as a stimulus for reflection and creation.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
The workshop is addressed to photographers in Greece or abroad, who want to bring into the creative process new experiences from their stay at Tsepelovo: anything from nature walks, getting acquainted with the place and its inhabitants, visits to the local photographic archive and to old manor houses, participation at the three-day traditional local fair (“pangegyri”)
Tsepelovo
Known since the 16th century, Tsepelovo is the largest village in the Zagori village complex. In 1868 it was the capital of the Turkish authorities of Zagori. It is located at an altitude of 1140m at the center of the North Pindos National Park in the Tymfi Mountains, 50 km from Ioannina. Tsepelovo. The village is immersed in the mountain and surrounded by forests.

Candidates who wish to apply must do so during the application period June 1-28, 2017, submitting the following application/statement of interest. In addition they must submit a sample of their work in digital form (a folder of 15 – 25 photographs compressed in zip or rar) and a short statement of purpose and expectations and/or previous experience (max. 300 words).
APPICATION SUBMISSION PERIOD: ends July 12th 2018
Applications will be reviewed on first-come first-served basis.
Places are limited to: 8 – 13
A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants at the end of each seminar series.
The participation fee for each seminar series is 350€ (includes accommodation).
